Like most people, I always thought the current United States – its population, territories, etc. – was our nation and always would be.

However, lately I’ve been reading about the idea of peaceful separation for the United States. Given what I’ve observed, especially over the last few years, I think it’s a good idea.  The partisan divide in this country is too great and resembles a bitter severely dysfunctional family than it does a healthy functional unit. America needs a divorce. There’s no compromise whatsoever between the two major parties or among voters no matter the party affiliation (Democrat, Republican, independent, etc.) Compromise is needed to be able to reach a middle ground to function in a healthy manner.

I don’t see this happening, and I fear that if we keep going like we are and keep beating the dead horse of being “united,” we will see REAL SHTF.

If you think the so called “summer of love” last year or the “insurrection at the capital” was bad, in my opinion you really won’t like where this is trending.

Imagine if you will a pressure cooker filled with steam that over pressurized. A small safety would blow to relieve that pressure to keep it from exploding. Currently America is that pressure cooker, except every time the safety relief blows someone plugs it with a nail and instead of turning the heat off,  they turn it up thinking it’ll magically get better on its own. Eventuality the pressure cooker will explode with enough force to kill anyone in the kitchen at the time.

If America explodes, it’ll be really ugly. This result would be another civil war, one different than the one America had in the 1800s. A country of our size, with population densities like those in our cities  and our modern weapons, it’ll make the previous civil war look like a trip to Disney land. It could quite possibly be even worse than the atrocities of both world wars combined.

The best way to avoid this is for the United States to divide peacefully and go our separate ways. Perhaps some states will remain loyal to the idea of our current nation and may remain part of the nation. Other states may decide to become their own small countries, as was intended with the original concept of the United States. Other like-minded states within the same region may band together and become their own united and independent territories.

Think of this as a marriage. When people are married and the relationship falls apart due to irreconcilable differences, divorce becomes the only sound option. Accordingly, there are legal processes in place for this situation. Sometimes married couples in need of divorce force themselves or each other to stay together, but far too often this results in domestic disputes, domestic violence, and sometimes serious injury or even death. Divorce – a mutual and respectful parting of the ways – can prevent such terrible outcomes.

It’s insanity for people who hate each other to keep trying to live together so why are we as a hyper-partisan nation,  full of groups of people that hate each other, trying to maintain this relationship? The animosity groups of Americans have for each other grows more each day.  If we keep this up, the pressure cooker of America will explode and it will be messy. Divorce needs to be an option. America needs to have a peaceful separation.  It is the only sound option, and the sooner the better.
